PTE

Pearson Test of English is a computer-based English language test for study abroad and immigration. It is approved by many English-speaking countries, especially in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the U.K. It is accepted around the world by universities, governments, and professional bodies. PTE Academic assesses real-life academic English, so you will hear excerpts from lectures, charts, and graphs. It is a two-hour test assessing all four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking in a single sitting. Unlike IELTS, speaking is done on the same day at the same time. 

Format of PTE

There are three main parts to the test: Speaking and Writing (together), Reading and Listening. The test is taken in one sitting on the computer and the timeframe for the same is 2 hours. You receive an overall score between 10 and 90, which grades your English ability against the Global Scale of English. 


Part 1: Speaking and Writing skills; 54-67 minutes.

Part 2: Reading skills; 29-30 minutes.

Part 3: Listening skills; 30-43 minutes.


One gets results typically in 48 hours.
